Today's the day! Battlestar finally arrives on Bluray! My set should be arriving on my doorstep any moment now! Anyone else get theirs today? What do you think? I skipped the basic set and went straight for the "Definitive Collection". I'm not a big fan of letter boxing things that were shot for standard 4:3 television back in the day. Even films have been big offenders. People have been after a widescreen copy of the "Karate Kid" for years but it wasn't shot that way! But I digress... One complaint I've heard so far is that unlike the amazing DVD set from 2003 the episodes don't have the commercial breaks edited out. I'm not too bothered by this at the end of the day but I can see why some would be a bit bummed. Sound off Warriors! Whatcha think of your set? www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Definitive-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B00Q2OQNCM/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1431459714&sr=1-3&keywords=Battlestar+Galactica

Wow, great news all.. If I do pick it up, I'd most likely go for the Definitive Collection as well. Not in a rush, since I'm still enjoying the 2003 Cylon Helmet set, and I know the effects scenes themselves aren't all that improved.
I don't have my new home theater up yet. Just waiting on the girlfriend to clear/store her stuff in the basement, plus paying down other bills and YES, G4 in under 90 days. So I've got a few months before I start putting it all together.
(Geez, with all the moving and setting up the new house, I haven't even gotten around to opening my Batman Complete '66 Series set yet...)
I did buy the 60" UHD plasma screen just before the Super Bowl to get a good deal from Best Buy, just waiting to buy the other components before it all goes up.
CONGRATS to everyone who got theirs. Let us know what you think..

FYI: If you purchase the widescreen set, you are loosing approximately 20% of the original image!
Remember that if you buy it in 4:3, all you have to do is find the little button on your remote that says "Zoom" and viola, you have instant widescreen!

I had preordered mine from Amazon awhile back. Got the "item shipped" email on Sunday, and my Definitive Collection" arrived at 10:30am on Tuesday. With all of my packing/prepping for my overseas move, haven't had time to watch much yet. I did watch the television pilot and Lost Planet. Looks great!
FYI--The Saga of a Star World theatrical release is just the 30th Anniversary BluRay that came out 2 years ago. NO big deal, as it looks great, too!

OK. Now that yall have had a chance to test drive the new blueray set I want to know is it worth it? Would I be better off just getting the non blueray set? Does the show look $60 sharper?

Replacement disc came today, finally! Came by FedEx and had to be signed for. Amazing how much money was spent by Universal Home Video to retrieve and replace a single disc! If you worked for me and you spent that much time and money retrieving "unusable" discs, I'd fire you. They should take some of that wasted money and spend it on "Remastering" all of the TOS episodes SPFX in 4K.

Sooo, just curious.
Was the "Saga.." movie on the disk the **same** movie-version which came out a few years back on Blu-ray, or the extended television version from the previous DVD boxset (but improved), on this new Blu-ray set...?
