I thought everyone might want to know a abit about the origins of the Battlestar Galactica Patch. Its actually an ancient Hindu symbol of the Divine. ...a yantra formed by nine interlocking triangles that surround and radiate out from the central (bindu) point, the junction point between the physical universe and its unmanifest source. It represents the goddess in her form of Shri Lalita Or Tripura Sundari, "the beauty of the three worlds (Heaven, Earth, Hell)". The worship of the Sri Chakra is central to the Shri Vidya system of Hindu worship. Four isosceles triangles with the apices upwards, representing Shiva or the Masculine. Five isosceles triangles with the apices downward, symbolizing female embodiment Shakti. Thus the Sri Yantra also represents the union of Masculine and Feminine Divine... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Yantra

Yes--someone found this last year and posted. Great find, too!!! The other post just had a photo of a carpet with the symbol. I like this one better. They also found the lettering on the cubits. I'll have to find that darn thread now....

Oh? What is the lettering from the cubits from? I just love how Galactica had the excuse of "brothers of man" to rip off every cool ancient thing from around the world.

It was actually a great way to get viewers into the "Ancient Alien" mindset. not a ripoff, but rather an idea that "Life here, began out there "

Right, I was speaking in fun when I said "ripoff". Basically with the Ancient Alien concept (or brothers of man) the writers had a lot of ancient "source material" to pull from. That better?

No one ever accused us of being "politically correct"... right?
