This recent disease now afflicting the people of Earth has had an even more devastating impact on them than I understand was the case aboard the Galactica when, as it visited Kobol itself, the "Lost Planet Of The Gods," it had almost its entire regular roster of Blue Squadron come down with a similar but deadlier such disease--its personnel could have died of that disease. At least as bad, we are NOT immune to it. Nor has the Life Station of the Galactica succeeded in finding a vaccine or a treatment; that could end up taking it almost two yahrens. I cannot order any other personnel to take any precautions, as I have not had my own Colonial Service colonelship fully reactivated as yet; all I can do is recommend that all personnel of Blackstar Squadron take cover and quarantine themselves wherever necessary. The Cylons are undoubtedly sitting in wait for any of us to violate such quarantine, and if any of us is thus caught, then it could mean the end of us all.

The people of Earth have developed vaccines against this disease--I am inclined to believe that what they did retain of the knowledge that we taught to them centurons ago was of tremendous value in their work, but even with that positive development in fighting against the disease, the danger it still presents to us is NOT over. The Cylons are monomaniacal, and persistent; their ability to dispatch new examples of themselves almost limitlessly to replace whatever examples of them we may have destroyed has proven to be responsible for our dwindled numbers and for our having lost the war. I shudder to consider the possibility of their getting access to the pathogen of the disease and weaponizing it against us before the vaccine is in wide distribution among those within whose teeming numbers we have been forced to hide for our own survival, not least with the original pathogen now believed to have recently diverged an even faster-spreading and deadlier mutation of itself.

The disease which still has the potential to threaten us has had its danger to us considerably reduced, even though it remains as potentially deadly as ever. The Galactica could provide a possible shelter against it, since decontamination procedures aboard it are more stringent than they are here on Earth, where I remain in hiding--those procedures have to be more stringent to protect us against any such illness as the disease which almost wiped out the entire roster of Blue Squadron so many yahrens ago. But as long as any of us are here on Earth, we will remain unable to reach it.
