Hey, I just saw the post on Facebook from Battlestar Raven. Blackstar Squadron is being changed to Blue Squadron? Are we changing names all over or just there? Or is there something else going on?

Nope, our illustrious squadron remains un-besmirched.. Blue Squadron is just a new page under the 'Raven regime', so I've been told. Hey, I just saw the post on Facebook from Battlestar Raven. Blackstar Squadron has nothing to do with "Battlestar Raven". They are great folks but we operate under our own charter. We are part of the greater Battlestar Fanclub (Shawn O'Donnell is a big supporter of ours!) but not necessarily part of their "fleet". We've always existed on the outside a bit. We joked around in person at Galacticon 3 about how they didn't know where to put us. Anything official that happens through Blackstar you'll hear here first. In order to be considered part of that fleet we would have to exist under their rules. Since Blackstar Squadron exists to promote the original series and is established just outside of original canon, there would be only two Battlestars left. For anyone who doesn't know the origin story of Blackstar, check out this thread! blackstarsquad.proboards.com/thread/1192/where-blackstar-comeIn short, around these parts: Pyramid is a card game, Starbuck is a man, and by the Lords of Kobol it is spelled "Frack" not "Frak". Oh and we say "Keep the Faith" because it is an old Battlestar fan motto. "So Say We All" is just a weird sounding sentence. lol All respect to anyone who may be a fan of the RDM series though! Many of our members are fans of both shows!

Mark, agreed and agreed. I personally never watched more than 20 minutes of the reimaged show.., and I also think 'So Say We All' sounds lame and insipid. I like the fact we're treading on the outer-reaches of fleet acceptance as our stomping ground here. Feels great. Attitude-wise, we're like the 'Eddie Haskell' of Battlestar groups. (or perhaps Seinfeld's Kramer for you younger cadet types around here..)

Thanks for the data. As a new guy, yet an old guy, I need help connecting the dots between the different sites, forums, members, etc. Here's the things that hit me as wrong and kept me away from the Reimagined show until just recently: 1) Starbuck is a woman 2) Starbuck, Apollo, Boomer are Call-signs not names 3) Cylons evolved and advanced to a higher state and yet made themselves look human? But they hate humans and want them all dead. WTF? 4) Every ship, including civilian, have ETL jump drives, yet everyone shoots BULLETS!?! Where are the laser pistols? Laser canons? advanced weapons at least? 5) NUKES? In space? really?

The Raven needed a "classic" squadron represented a few years ago. Blackstar was only added to Raven to cover that. It had nothing to do with the club here. Since most people were associating the Raven Blackstar with this club, I changed it to Blue Squadron as a more general "classic" squad there. As mentioned, Blackstar club is just friends of the Raven and not part of their structure.

I like the Re-imagied show but I have to think of it as a new Scifi with nothing to do with the classic.
