Yay, I finally got in my tans from bsg.org today. Victory at last (in-joke for those of you who know my earlier challenge with a known seamstress). Will have my sleeves tailored for my long arms (and waist brought in...), otherwise they look good.

Ahhh, watching 'Saga of a Star World' again, on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Well.., between housework chores while the girlfriend's at work.

Well the wife and I regret to say we wont be able to attend Galacticon. We are going through our own thing at the moment. The wifes health is our big issue, its not life threatening but at present she is not as mobile and is starting Neuro Physical Therapy, that along with the prescriptions is killing off the bulk of any extra cash. So even if we had the cash, it would not be possible physically.
Sorry Savage

Sadly no go on Galacticon as well. Trying to get a car up and going for a friend's kid, who is basically my kid. Money keeps flowing into that. Ok, the picture.... right now is a beautiful time of year for outdoor pictures. So here are the ideas I have for making a good group shot we can photoshop together: 1) Take the picture in your uniform (or best approximation of one). 2) Take it at noon your time on a sunny day. 3) Face the sun for direct light but naturally don't look into the sun. 4) Make the picture at least two mega pixels. Send the picture with your height measurements to drclu@swbell.net So those are the draft instructions. Any thoughts? I'll give till April 17th for ideas to be gelled on this. Then Till May 8th (one month from today) to get the picture submissions. Naturally we can add people at any time, but just getting people to take pictures around the same time of the year under a common light source... the sun!

Ok Colonel Bolter and Longshot have acknowledged. Sounds like we are a go for this idea. So get those pictures made. If I have not heard from you by this time next week I'll start contacting people. Now if we can just get a good high res picture of a outside (sunny day) on a alien world or something. Here are the instructions for the picture so far: "1) Take the picture in your uniform (or best approximation of one). Getting pics done tonight after work, luckily my girlfriend/photographer can do wonders with the subject material.. I haven't got my jacket in yet from Magnoli, so just doing a tans pic for my Warrior status (since it's 'jacket optional' under bylaws..). I'll have more done when the jacket arrives, should be within 3wks per Indy.

Nooo, per the guidelines just generally-posed front and side poses are accepted, typically from 10-15ft away. The submission guidelines are probably more explicit.
I'm going to have my fiance take standing, crouching poses, by some exterior, futuristic-looking backgrounds.

Ahhh, apologies, wasn't too sure in what this was referencing. Thought it was in response to my comments. Sorry, to clarify, what is the "environment" for this virtual group shot? Are we standing at attention? Crouched with lasers drawn? Laughing it up at the Galactica picnic?

Ahhh, FINALLY. My professional photographer/girlfriend and I went out yesterday for a series of location shots with my uniform (sans jacket..). Gaaawd, she snapped over 200 pics.., most of me either standing or crouching, weapon drawn. Her work is always perfecto, just wish she had better 'subject material'.. We did have a few folks walk by and ask questions; one middle-aged smiling guy came up and said, 'I don't know what you're doin' but it looks pretty cool..'.

We'll do pics again in a few weeks, and for the Blackstar (composite) picture, once my jacket comes in.
I just wanted a couple to submit for my Warrior designation to the Council (jacket is optional).

200 shots!! Awesome, yeh want to see that too.
Ok, liking the environment shot ideas.
The group shot is on a sunny day (sun directly in front but don't look into the sun) straight on shot. From that we could do two shots 1) attention, serious (no smile), 2) "at ease" more relaxed, smiles.
All outside shots.
Now just to find those future-like backdrops.
Some have taken shots, but if you feel like taking more pictures we could try ...
Other fun ones (optional) -------- 3) Fun pose at the Galactica picnic (Liked that). Shots of standing around shooting the bull, more relaxed. 4) Action shot: Cylons are coming from off screen. This is you at a side pose with your blaster shooting something off screen to YOUR left.

Ha ha.., been around there 'two-years-too-long' as it is. Two separate deployments. For a tundra-guy like myself.., I needed a new travel agent..: Going on the 'American Plan' got kinda annoying.

Loved the pyramid shot! Yeh just photoshop out the guy and the camel and we'd be in! Not much submitted so far, but I guess I can get something started.

Hey sounds like the three of us will have some fun with this. Glad you are all getting shots done. Believe it or not we've had Washington weather in Dallas. (Wet, rainy, cloudy). But will get some updated pictures done as well. Thanks for the updates guys, was very encouraging!
