I've been encouraged by all the fun stuff on the board to do some quickie photos of the stuff I have squirreled away. I'm not selling, just showing off my larder to folks who I know will appreciate it! Here's my Mattel Viper Launch Station. Its a semi-rare toy. Since the box was designed to be cut up so the kid could shoot at cardboard Cylon raiders, it usually got trashed. The box is in fair to middlin' shape. The contents are good except I'm missing one of the gun emplacement plugs for the side. And here is my collection of "official" Battlestar Galactica jewelry. All necklaces, but fun and still in the original boxes! I'm still curious as to why ANYBODY would want to wear an Ovion necklace. Oh well. Merchandising, huh? These are shift puzzles. I'm pretty sure they came on a card with others and were for birthday party swag. And THESE are the oddity in my collection. Obviously LAPEL PINS made in a very very VERY inaccurate likeness of the Galactica (military Intelligence) collar pin. I have no idea where they originated, but they have a Universal Studios inscription on the back. My guess is that they were sold at the theme park because I've never seen them elsewhere. The decorative bit is smaller than the regular collar pin. I have no idea the manufacturer. If you have any definitive info, I'd love to hear it! So that's some of my Galactica treasure trove. What have YOU got?

That launch station is awesome! Last year at Comic Con the Mattel booth had a display of all their BSG toys from back in the day. I just stood in front of the window and drooled. Great collection!

Did they have a Landram? That's the one I always wanted and never got.
I met the guy who owns the prototype of the electronic Galactica and the prototype of the landram. He was local but I've lost touch with him.
We had a "Galactica play date" several years ago showing off our collections. It was great fun.
Its nice when you can find folks who appreciate your hobbies.

They did have a landram but it was only sold in Canada at the time..It didn't make to the US after the toy line was discontinued

To quote an Australian film, "Tell Him He's DREAMIN'!" The actual prototype for the landram toy from the Mattel archives didn't sell for that much. One that's been played with and comes with a beat-up box isn't worth one twentieth of that. I'll get one eventually. And I won't have to take out a mortgage to buy it.

Looking for the Landram as well.., still gunning for that Viper Launch Station myself. Need a minty box, will pay an extra hundred if it's nice enough.
Just passed on a MOC Baltar, I easily could have afforded him but didn't feel like paying the current rate, AND I'm finishing up my uniform for upcoming cons.

The dealers on ebay have a pretty unrealistic idea of what fans of the classic show will pay for the old Mattel line. And it seems to be pretty much across the board...not just one or two guys with crazy prices. ALL of them have crazy prices.
Was the Mattel stuff on that "Toy Hunter" show? That's where idiots get their pricing structures.

As for crazy prices, I won't pay anyone's 'buy-it-now' price, nor would I use that as an accurate value. But if I'm bidding against a half-dozen other guys, it's pretty fair as for demand and value.
Sometimes I walk away with an obscure, 1-day auction win..: Two months ago I picked up a MIB Mattel Cylon Raider (complete), fairly minty box too, for only $33+shipping.
"Sheesh..."

See, now I consider that a fair buy. But these guys listing a single Mattel ship for $120+ They're crazy. Particularly the ones with the static missiles. But even so.

Fully agreed, sir. Some of those 'buy-it-now' folks will respond with a better price if you email them (and I did say: 'some'.....). I won't pay crazy prices, BUT (and that's a big BUT..), I'm no stranger to lobbing an extra hundred at a well-bidded auction item to secure it. Sniping..? Perhaps, but if it means that much to me, throwing an extra $50 or $100 to grab it is well within my means. But the box has to be as bright and minty as I've seen in months for me to waste the time. I lost out on an awesome Viper Launch Station MIB for $115 (final bid price..) a month ago because I turned my focus towards getting my warrior uniform ordered/paid for, so eh, -> I'll get the next one. Best of luck on 'the Hunt' sir.

My collection is more about the nostalgia than anything else, so pristine examples aren't high on my priority list. I used to collect Micronauts and Japanese Microman toys, and I got so paranoid about damaging the minty ones that I finally just gave them all up to auction. I couldn't handle the responsibility! I want toys that I can play with if the muse descends. I want to take my Viper Launch Station into the back yard and let those puppies loose! I figure some day I'll stumble upon a landram at one of the many yard sales and flea markets I go to. It'll be beat up me incomplete, because it will have made its way to America from Canada, but it'll be a big score. And I'll feel oh-so-superior for rescuing it from a cardboard bin full of broken Transformers and TMNT vehicles!

Good thoughts.. I was typically the same way about any vintage MIB items, with humidity, handling, etc, I just didn't want to deal with cardboard boxes. But with the purchasing now of acrylic display boxes, I'm more into displaying nice boxes than the actual playing of items. Probably because I'm older than most on the board, also because I just want a beautiful collection, so I'm willing to drop another hundred for exquisite boxes, then purchase the display cases to protect them. That being said, the Mattel Landram production ALWAYS bugged me. Why would the vehicle I'd want the MOST have to be only sold up in CA..? My fav vehicles from the show were always the shuttle, viper and landram. So for the coolest vehicle (besides the Viper) to be only available in CA really blows. Hate to have to drop a few grand on one, but the temptation's always there.

The guy who owned the prototype landram and Galactica toys was a local. I went to his house and got to see them (and hold them!!)
They were pretty damned cool.

Very VERY impressive display. Great pics. I must acquire that MIB Viper Launch Station. HOWEVER, Mego BSG figures are not complete without the Dida Display BSG playset. I bought a 3-story tall Mego Fantastic Four/Baxter Building one from Dida years ago and it's fantastic. If you're collecting the new BSG Mego figures, you owe it to yourself to check out this link..: BSG Custom Playset

The MEGO style figs really leave me cold.
But here's a thought: we should all write to MOEBIUS Models and request that they make a LANDRAM model kit to go in their Galactica line!

I have no interest in them either (I don't like the lack of uniform/jacket details) but they were shown in the big display, so if any 1:9 scale enthusiasts are on this board, they'd sure like 'em.
Great quality playsets.
I'm close to buying a pre-built 2001 Spacebus, would LOVE to finally see some Landrams AND Shuttles.

I love that playset!!! The mego figures are growing on me a bit, but I wasn't that big a fan of them back in the day. Truthfully, I'm not a fan of cloth items on figures. It breaks the continuity for me. With all the "Re-Action" figures hitting the market I wonder if Mattel would consider a re-release of the original figures?
I know Moebius has a few things planned but I'm not sure about a Landram. I'd love a landram and a shuttle! We should indeed write them for sure.

I bid $1,200 on the Mattel Landram auction, already out-bid.., but that's alright.
It feels kind cool to know I at least lobbed a bid in the mix at some point.

Toy collectors: anybody got a high-res scan of the Viper Launch Station sticker sheet? I'm trying to refurb mine and I have no stickers!
